Speaker Introduction: Liu Yonghou, professor and doctoral supervisor at Beijing Normal University, postdoctoral collaborating supervisor, is an excellent talent in Beijing. Recognized as a Young Teaching Master in Beijing, he has published over 50 academic papers in authoritative and professional SSCI and CSSCIjournals, authored 3 academic monographs, and led 2 general projects of the National Social Science Fund, one major sub-project of the National Social Science Fund, and 2 Ministry of Education projects. Currently, he serves as an executive director of the Sociolinguistics Branch of the Chinese Linguistic Society, a director of the Language Service Research Committee of the China Comparative Study of English and Chinese Language Association, a director of the Ecological Linguistics Committee of the China Comparative Studies of English and Chinese Languages Association, and a peer reviewer for the National Social Science Fund and research projects of the National Language Committeeas well as a paper reviewer for the Degree Center of the Ministry of Education. Lecture Content: Current trends in language policy research show a shift from macro to micro perspectives. Language policy in foreign language classrooms, as a micro-level educational policy, has significant potential and development space in domestic and international language policy research. This lecture will outline the elements of language policy in foreign language classrooms, covering definitions, policymakers and policy types, and then discuss the factors influencing language policy in foreign language classrooms, with English as an example to introduce the current state of foreign language classroom policies in China. Finally, the lecture will explore the issues present in China’s foreign language classroom language policy from the perspectives of explicit and implicit policies to propose countermeasures and suggestions. |
