In order to further our study in implementing General Secretary Xi’s important speech delivered over his Tianjininspection about “four aspects of working smart and making it” and fulfill the various tasks of “Top TUST” scheme, the School of Foreign Languages plunges into the action plan of “Ideo-political Education Matters Most” to deepen the reform of ideo-political education in courses. In-classroom activities are designed to promote revolutionary culture and advanced socialist culture, and to guide the youth in establishing lofty ideals, cultivating consciouspatriotism, enhancing awareness of responsibility and commitment to integratean “individual self” into the “collective self”. The SFL Party Committee insists on the fundamental task of virtuefostering and talents cultivating throughout the entire educational process by organizing all teachers to unify knowledge teaching and morality nurturing via ideo-political education on the new journey in the new era.

Wang Ying, for example, continuously promotes curriculum innovation in German language classes, renewing and enriching the courses by actively deepening theintegration of ideo-political education into foreign language majors. She guides students to study the original German text of Marx’s article “Considerations for the Young People When Choosing a Profession”, advocating the young students to cherish lofty ideals and to integrate their individual self into the greater collective self of the whole nation to keep pace with the times and create the future with the peoplein order to better realize personal value and elevate personal life. Those in-classroom and out-classroom cultural activities conductedthrough classroom explanations, discussions, and recitations have enhanced students’ interest in learning German language and culture and stimulated their motivation for academic research.
