Wang Yuxi, an undergraduate student from our SFL, won the second place in the Fighting Style Sanda Men’s A Group (Ordinary College Sunshine Group) 88kg category in the 2nd China University Sanda Championship (Sporting and Fighting Style) that concluded on July 14.

This competition hosted by the Chinese University Sports Association and executed by the University Judo Branch of the Chinese University Sports Association, had over 300 athletes and more than 50 coaches who participated from 32 university teams nationwide. There were two main categories of Sporting Style and Fighting Style Sandawith five groups and seven weight categories for both men and women. During the three-day competition, the athletes engaged in fierce competition, showcasing the highest level of contemporary Chinese university Sanda. The TUST Team, composed of two students led by Wu Jian, participated for the first time. They trained hard and prepared meticulouslyand brought honor to the university after having overcome suchdisadvantages as a lack of competition experience.

In recent years, the campus sunshine sports at TUST have gradually formed a development model led by high-level sports teams, supported by sports clubs, and focused on campus sports competitions. By taking competitions as practice, the SFL implements the requirements for sports work of “teaching well, practicing diligently, and competing regularly” and have achieved excellent results in competitions at the Tianjin municipal level and even nationwide. This opportunity will be taken advantage of to continue to strengthen the responsibilities and commitments of sportspeople with practical actions taken to pioneers at TUST.
