Li Xixi Wins Gold Medal in the First National College Student Career Planning Competition of Tianjin

Li Xixi, an undergraduate student from our School of Foreign Languages, won the gold medal in the general functional sub-track of the employment track on March 17, 2024 according to the final conclusion of the higher education group of the First National College Student Career Planning Competition of Tianjin.

Li is a senior student majoring in English at TUST, aspiring to become a translation specialist in foreign trade enterprises. She combines her personal experiences with national development plans, consciously knowing that China’s determination to expand high-level openness remains unchanged, and actively gets engaged in foreign trade translation. In study and work, Li not only delves into professional knowledge, obtaining various qualifications like the TEM-4, IELTS, and cross-cultural communication certificates but has also won 24 translation-related awards and 17 innovation awards, contributing over 1,129 hours to volunteer service, thus developing a strong occupationalcompetence in general. Moreover, she has gained rich translation practice experience through in-depth internships at various levels and fields, including the China Media Group, China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, Mediterranean Shipping Company, Milly Technology Co., Ltd., and Beijing Xueersi, etc.

In the future, Li Xixi plans to work as a translator in foreign trade enterprises by continuously enhancing herself to contribute to the translation field. It is hoped that her experiences will provide career planning references for foreign language students who share the dream of becoming translators.

As our next move, the School will take this competition success as an opportunity to continue to optimize student career planning and employment guidance efforts, guiding students to establish correct views on talent development, employment, and career choices to enhance the effectiveness of career educationand to promote high-quality full employment for graduates.

Note: The First National College Student Career Planning Competition aims to strengthen career planning education for college students by enhancing their awareness of career planning, improving the level of employment guidance services, and promoting high-quality full employment for college students. The final of the higher education group of Tianjin competition consisted of four parts: thematic presentation, comprehensive interview, judge scoring, and audience voting.
