Silver-haired Elders Shine with Original Aspiration; Torch Passed to Nurture New Talents

Retired teachers from the Working Committee for the Care of the Next Generation of the School of International Studies returned to campus to promote the patriotism of foreign language educators.

The School invited retired veteran teachers, including Xia Huiyan, Yang Xiuzhen and Qiao Heming, to exchange ideas with faculty, students and alumni. They revisited campus memories, rekindled teacher-student ties and offered practical advice on alumni association management, alumni resource development and school-enterprise collaborative education. Online alumni also joined the conversation to recall their college days. The retired teachers expressed satisfaction at seeing their former students excel and stay devoted to the School.

Marking the start of the 15th Five-Year Plan period, this event reviewed the School’s educational heritage and rallied support for future development. The Committee will continue to tap the strengths of retired teachers, support the School’s Top TUST Initiative and the “3510” Strategic Project, and advance the construction of a distinctive high-level teaching and research school. It will uphold the mission of foreign language educators, foster patriotism, tell China’s stories through languages, provide ideological guidance for young teachers and students, and contribute the wisdom of the “Five Elders” to the high-quality development of the School of International Studies.
