Yang ZhenzhenAwarded the Title of “Outstanding Young or Middle-aged Translator”

Yang Zhenzhen, Associate Professor from our School of Foreign Languages was awarded the title according to a recentlyannounced selectionresults of the “Outstanding Young and Middle-aged Translator” of 2024 by the China Translators Association. In this year’s selection, of the four awarded teachers from Tianjin Ms.Yangis the only one specializing in Japanese-Chinese translation.

Yang Zhenzhen, Doctor of Literatureand MA program Supervisor, specializes in Japanese literature. In recent years, she,who is responsible for a National Social Science Fund project for the translation of Chinese academic works, has completed one provincial-level project, participated in one national-level project, published 20 translated works totaling over 2.2 million words and one academic monograph, and authored more than ten papers in important academic journals.

The selection of “Outstanding Young and Middle-aged Translator” organized by the China Translators Association, aims at recognizing young patriotictranslators whoexcel in their translation skills with outstanding achievements in bridging cultures. Candidates must have remarkable translation experiences and achievements with regard to significant works in politics, economics, culture, social sciences, and other fields to have made notable contributions in translation, international communication, and cultural exchanges between China and other countries.

This award is an indicator which not only affirms Ms. Yang’s personal abilities and achievements but recognizes the research and teaching efforts of our School of Foreign Languages, greatly enhancing the social influence of both TUST and our SFL. Taking this opportunity, the School will lead the way with the “Top TUST” to further strengthen the disciplinary foundation, leverage professional advantages, enhance the construction of the national-level first-class undergraduate program of translation, improve the quality of talent cultivation by taking concrete actions to promote the high-quality development, enhance international communication capabilities, and contribute more to such national effortsas the “Belt and Road Initiative” “Going Global of Chinese Culture” and “Telling China’s Stories Well”.
