Faculty Team of SIS Successfully Completes Reception Support for the 2026 China International Mining Conference

The Foreign Affairs Office of Tianjin Municipal People’s Government recently sent a thank-you letter to Tianjin University of Science and Technology, recognizing the faculty members assigned to offer foreign affairs support for the Ministerial Forum on International Mining Cooperation and the 2026 China International Mining Conference. Hosted at Tianjin Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center from September 10 to 12 under the theme “Win-win Cooperation for Green and Smart Development”, the conference brought together delegates from 60 countries and international organizations and representatives of over 650 domestic and overseas enterprises. Five teachers from the School of International Studies, namely Zhang Wei, Liu Yanli, Liu Yanhua, Wang Qiaoping and Zou Jin, worked on frontline guest reception. With solid expertise, strong commitment and thoughtful service, they fulfilled all tasks and showcased the outstanding  professionalism of TUST teachers.

Liu Yanli and Liu Yanhua acted as liaisons for the Minister of South Sudan’s Ministry of Mining and were in charge of the South Sudanese delegation throughout their four-day visit. They arranged accommodation, transport and conference schedules, took part in municipal foreign affairs training, and inspected venues and airports in advance. They properly coped with contingencies including itinerary revisions, ticket changes and excess luggage, guaranteeing smooth arrangements for the delegation’s opening ceremony, banquet, Haihe River cruise and business talks.

Zhang Wei delivered full-range support for the Timor-Leste delegation, covering arrivals, venue visits, sub-forum attendance and group photo coordination. She also provided escort interpretation at the banquet and on-site interpretation for the Haihe River night cruise.

This assignment exemplifies how the School of International Studies capitalizes on its disciplinary strengths to serve the university and Tianjin’s foreign affairs work. The School consistently enhances the cross-cultural and language service capabilities of teachers and students by engaging them in municipal international events. Going forward, the School will further leverage foreign language strengths, arrange more faculty and student participation in international exchanges and foreign services, boost Tianjin’s urban internationalization, and contribute to the high-quality development of TUST.
